Spider Veins (Vericose
Veins) Treatment
One of the most common side effects of sun-damaged
skin are the tiny, burst capillaries that crop up on and around the nose.
These spider veins are harmless, but visible enough to bother many women
who have them. The good news: You can have them removed in one or two
laser treatments in Board Certified Dermatologist, Babar K Rao's office.
The procedure only takes a few minutes and can be easily squeezed into a
lunch hour.
In the course of a treatment Babar K. Rao, MD, FAAD will apply the laser
directly to the capillary, which destroys the lining of the tiny vein.
Your body will absorb what's left, and the capillary disappears from the
surface of your skin. For the most part the procedure doesn't hurt. You
will see results immediately.
What are spider veins?
Spider veins are those small, unsightly red, purple or blue blood vessels
found along the surface of the legs, thighs and ankles. These veins are
actually tiny and unsightly varicose veins which do not perform any
circulatory function. These veins can be removed with both appearance and
blood circulation benefit.
What are the causes of spider veins?
Most spider veins are caused by genetic weaknesses in the walls of small
blood vessels. Women generally suffer from spider veins more often than do
men because of estrogen effects on the blood vessels. They frequently
become more prominent during pregnancy or while taking birth control
pills. Prolonged periods of sitting or standing, sun damage, direct
injuries and some skin diseases can also lead to the development of spider
veins.
