Rashes
Rashes are your body's way of telling you it doesn't
like something. Common rashes result from reactions to medications,
ingredients in a lotion or shampoo, metals, or even food.
Some rashes will only go away if treated
by a dermatologist. These include severe forms of common rashes such as
acne, atopic
dermatitis, and
rosacea.
Some rashes are chronic, or long-term, requiring regular check-ups to keep
them under control. You should consider seeing Board Certified
Dermatologist, Babar K. Rao, MD, FAAD if your regular regimen is not
working.
If a rash really bothers you, you should see a
dermatologist. Period. It doesn't matter if it's a common skin problem, or
other people aren't concerned about it. You're the one who has to live
with your skin, so if you want to talk to a doctor, feel free to contact
Doctor Rao for a complimentary consultation.
Please note, the longer you've had a rash, the more likely you need to see
a dermatologist if you're concerned about it. Deciding if that mole you've
had on your skin for the past twenty years is looking cancerous or not is
something you want an expert to analyze.
Most of the time a rash that has been present for a couple of days will go
away on its own. Warning signs that should send you to the doctor sooner
rather than later are pain, rapid swelling causing shortness of breath,
bleeding blisters in the mouth or eyes, skin that is rapidly turning dusky
or black, and large amounts of peeling skin..
If you have any questions about our dermatology or dermatopathology
procedures please feel free to contact Board Certified Dermatologist,
Board Certified Dermatopathologist, Babar K. Rao, MD, FAAD at his
Manhattan, New York, Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, or Fresno, California
offices.
