Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a chronic disorder, which means it
can last a long time and can come back frequently. It is most common in
people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.. Most people who develop it do so
before age 30. In the United States, about two or three out of every 100
people have psoriasis. Board Certified Dermatologist, Babar K. Rao, MD,
FAAD, can successfully treat your psoriasis.
Psoriasis Treatment Options:
There are a number of treatment options for patients with psoriasis and
Board Certified Dermatologist, Babar K. Rao, MD, FAAD, will discuss all
the options with you. For those who have psoriasis in small spots on their
body, a topical steroid cream can be effective. However, steroid creams
are not practical for someone who has it on a large percentage of their
body. Tar preparations have also been used on patients who have psoriasis.
The tar helps keep the skin cells from multiplying so quickly. Another
treatment recently used is light treatment. While this can be helpful,
many dermatologists do not recommend patients expose themselves to UVA
light because of the risk of skin cancer. There are also pharmaceutical
options for some patients.
Board Certified Dermatologist, Babar K. Rao, MD
with offices in Manhattan, New York and Frsno, California has years of
experience with all the various types of psoriasis therapy, including
topical treatments, light treatments or phototherapy (artificial
ultraviolet light, or a combination of ultraviolet light and medication)
and other medications.
Along with treatments for psoriasis, the dermatologist has extensive
experience with outcomes of psoriasis treatment: he is very familiar with
how well different treatments have worked for different types of people
and different types of psoriasis. Board Certified Dermatologist, Babar K.
Rao, MD, FAAD, will be highly efficient in selecting an appropriate
